Eric Scher, M.D., is the department of medicine chair and chief education officer for Henry Ford Health. As chief education officer, he is responsible for providing system-wide oversight for the education enterprise for Henry Ford Health.
Scher completed his undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Michigan. He completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in the department of medicine at Henry Ford Hospital. He has been an active member of the teaching faculty at Henry Ford Hospital since 1988 and served as residency program director for the department of internal medicine from 1992 to 2007 and as vice chair from 1997 to 2010.
He has been involved in educational activities within the American College of Physicians (Master), the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, the Association of American Medical Colleges, and the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education. He is also Professor in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Scher continues to teach residents and medical students and practice both ambulatory and inpatient medicine.
