Special Presentation by John Mulder, M.D., FAAHPM, HMDC

Dr. John Mulder currently serves as the Medical Director for Trillium Institute, Chief Medical Consultant for Hospice and Palliative Care for Holland Home, and the Medical Director of Palliative Services for MetroHealth in Grand Rapids, MI. John has an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine where he serves as the Director of the Division of Palliative Medicine, and is currently the Director of the Mercy Health Grand Rapids Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. Board certified in Family Medicine with CAQ in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABMS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, John is a frequent speaker on end of life, ethics, and palliative issues.
He additionally serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Homecare and Association of Michigan, and also chairs the Ethics Committees at Spectrum Health and MetroHealth University of Michigan Health in Grand Rapids. He previously served on the Michigan Advisory Committee on Pain and Symptom Management, and has testified in front of the US House of Representatives during deliberations related to the opioid crisis. He was also honored as the recipient of the 2019 Palliative Medicine Community Leadership Award by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
