Managing complex medical care can be overwhelming for patients and the family members who support them. Scheduling even a single test or treatment can get complicated quickly. The clinic may need a referral, prior results and labs, or other documentation from the patient to ensure best results. Once scheduled, the patient may need instructions about how to prepare. The test or treatment site may be in a different location than the physician’s office and so they need to know exactly where to go and how to check in once they arrive. Going through this process with multiple tests and treatments can become exhausting and leaves room for error.
Henry Ford is launching a pilot study of Care Bridge, a patient and family engagement application developed by Cura Collaborative that works alongside existing electronic health record systems. Through task-based guidance and mobile access, caregivers receive clear, timely instructions that help patients prepare for visits, tests and treatments before they arrive at the hospital. For clinical teams, the platform offers real time visibility into patient readiness, helping reduce missed steps, confusion and avoidable delays in care.
The pilot is led by Avi Cohen, M.D., Director of Interventional Pulmonology at Henry Ford Hospital and physician champion for the project. Many of his patients face complex diagnoses and treatment plans. Care Bridge replaces static, manual coordination tools with a shared digital experience for staff, patients and caregivers. This patient-centered innovation brings clinicians, families and technology partners together to improve care both inside and beyond the hospital.
The product addresses a long-standing gap in health care collaboration. Henry Ford + MSU Innovation Hub supports Cura Collaborative with mentorship, resources and programming. Henry Ford Innovations facilitated the pilot and licensing agreement, and the Cura Collaborative team also participated in MSU Research Foundation-affiliated incubator and venture programs, including the Conquer Accelerator.
